My New House Disaster

After about five and a half years of saving every penny we could, my husband and I were able to get together enough money for a down payment on our first home in Fort Lauderdale. This was a big step for us because both of our parents always rented apartments, and never had the opportunity to purchase their own homes. We were the first ones in either of our families to step across the line, step up to the plate, and take our wonderful swing at becoming homeowners. Both of our families were extremely proud of the major accomplishment that we made in our lives. I should say that we are both 28 years old, and have a spectacular, brilliant, adorable three year old. Yes, I am a proud Mama, so deal with it.

My New Fort Lauderdale House had Gross Carpeting

At 27 years old, I was finally able to put together the down payment to buy a small home inside Fort Lauderdale city limits. It’s the perfect area for me because the house is like 7 minutes from where I work. Sure, it’s a small 2 bedroom but it is perfect for what I need. I’m a single guy, no pets, and my parents only visit Fort Lauderdale once or twice a year. The small guest bedroom will be just enough for them, and not let them get too comfortable, if you know what I mean. The house suited me to a T. I loved it when I first saw it.

My Monster-in-Law's Visit

It isn't that I hate my mother-in-law. The fact that she thinks she is perfect and lets everyone else in the world know it drives me crazy. You see, I'm a stay at home Mom and my husband goes out to work every day to support the family. We aren't rich, so I clip coupons, shut off unnecessary lights and cut every corner so we can afford to pay for our home in Tamarac. She seems to think that putting the kids in day care is a better idea than raising the kids ourselves.

My Kid’s Birthday Party Disaster

I must preface this by saying that the actually party for my son wasn’t a nightmare. It was the cleanup that was quite the disaster in my eyes. We had ten children over to our home in Sunrise for my 7 years old son’s birthday party. The plan was to have it outside in the backyard however; it was just my luck that we had thunder and lightning storms all day. There was no way that I could cancel his party. It would have devastated him.

My Hawaiian Punch Nightmare

I wanted to share the experience that I had with the professional carpet cleaning crew at Absolute Best Carpet Cleaners. Every week, I buy four gallon jugs of Hawaiian Punch Fruit Punch because my grandkids like it when they visit. They drink so much of the stuff that I always want to make sure that I have the drink on hand. If you’re a Grandma like me, you know how important it is to keep the grandchildren happy. There is always the competition between the maternal and paternal grandparents, and this is not a competition I would ever plan on losing.

My Feline Conundrum in West Palm Beach

My aunt is an elderly lady. In fact, she is 93 years old with a birthday coming up next month. Her husband passed away some 20 years ago, and they never had any children. Keeping up with Aunt Kate has always been my job. Sure, my siblings who live out of state send cards and make the occasional phone call to her however; I’m the person who ensures that she has everything she needs and her bills are taken care off on time. It hasn’t been that big of a deal, until Aunt Kate needed to spend a week in the hospital. You see, she has a cat and I am NOT an animal person.
